Star Party @ Stratford Hall - Montross
7pm - 11pm
7pm - 11pm
Stratford Hall is offering a fall evening sky adventure! Come join members of the Rappahannock Astronomy Club for a night of star gazing on the Oval. This is a fun opportunity for all ages! RAC will set up a number of amateur telescopes on the Oval, and visitors will be treated to views of the Moon in crescent phase in the early evening, with the planets Uranus and Neptune visible in the eastern sky and Jupiter rising late. The constellation Cygnus the Swan, with its rich Milky Way star fields and colorful star systems, will be high overhead. If you happen to be on the grounds before sunset, RAC will offer an opportunity to safely view our nearest star as well.
Parking will be in the Visitor Center parking lot and stargazing will take place on the Oval in front of the Great House.
FREE! The public is advised to call Stratford Hall beforehand in case the weather forecast is uncertain.
