Art Attack and Via Colori Street Painting-September

LETTER: Art in the ’Burg! Come and enjoy in September

The growing number of artists in the Fredericksburg area has spawned two large-scale events for the public to enjoy on the streets during consecutive weekends. Art Attack will be held Sept. 14 and Via Colori Street Painting Festival on Sept. 21–22.
Both events, led by local artists, promote artists and encourage interaction with the public. By offering a view of the creative process, those who might not visit local galleries can see art in process.
A mentor once said, “A rising tide lifts all ships,” meaning artists can support each other to boost morale while expanding local art. There are no competitive awards driving either event, just a desire to share the process. Both inspire young artists to create in Hurkamp Park on the 14th and Riverfront Park on the 21st–22nd.
Free to all, both will bring people to shop, dine, and discover local art. Art Attack Fredericksburg and Via Colori Fredericksburg, on Facebook, offer details.
Art Attack is a grassroots effort to expose the talents of the local community. Artists will set up easels along Caroline Street, supply their own materials, and paint. They are later offered the chance to show and sell their work in LibertyTown Arts Workshop.
Via Colori is a licensed Fredericksburg Arts Commission project/fundraiser for the Fredericksburg Area Museum. Local sponsorships support advertising, workshops, and art supplies. While artists recreate images on the pavement in pastels, musicians and vendors add to the festival. A Saturday evening illuminated stroll is open to view works in progress. Featured artists are Nick Candela and Chris Carlson.
Please support our local art community by attending both events and experience the rich diversity of artists in our region.
